As I gave you a little overview on the new features in
sitecore 8 I will start a series of blogs to dive deep in each of these
features to let you know more and more about how great is the new sitecore
version.
In this blog I will explain an interesting feature that
sitecore 8 added which is the "Path Analyzer" which give you the
power to know more about your site visitors movements through your site, so
let's start..
What is path analyzer?
It is application that give you the power to create maps
that shows sequential paths for your website visitors. So while users are
accessing your website and interacting with your content you can see their ways
to get to these content.
By using this application you can also identify a first visit
user or a returned visit user you can identify the highest engagement value in
your website content.
Creating path analyzer map
If we define a map we can say that a map is a drawing of
analyzer path which represent the user way through your site.
You can create path analyzer map by following the steps
below:
- open sitecore >> content editor
- Go to path /sitecore/system/Marketing Control Panel/Path Analyzer/Maps/Path Experience Maps
- Select one of the four existing categories
- visits
- Goals
- Assets
- Campaigns
- Let's suppose you select "Visits" you can then click "Visit Map" which will required to enter map name
- Then you can set a rule. start and end date for the created map under the scope section in the map item.
- Finally you need to deploy the map by going to Review tab and click deploy button within the workflow section.
In the following screen you can see a UI description for the
above steps.
Page Analyzer
You can use the path analyzer on a specific page, which means
that you can identify the paths used to access specific page in website in
addition to identify those users , not just that you can see paths In/Out for
this page.
Path Funnel
In addition to all the great features in the path analyzer
there is the path funnel which give you the power to know the pages (nodes)
that users leave your site when they were there which allow you to enhance the
content of these nodes.
