SUGCON Europe 2018 - Day 1

You have to like Sitecore, as a platform and as a community people, today this post is coming from Berlin where Sitecore user group conference 2018 is being conducted. In this post I will share my experience for the first day of SUGCON in addition to the previous day.

Of course you can't visit Berlin without checking some of the great historical places in the city, so before the SUGCON start I had a quick tour around the city, following are some of great pictures I took during the tour:

On Monday 23, April 2018, SUGCON Europe started with a great introduction by the great community team @pieterbrink123, @markvanaalst and @AgileStCyr, talking about different areas like how the SUGCON idea evolved over the recent years, they talked about JSS and how progress are there with this cool product in addition to xConnect. some of the pictures show how much this was great:

One of the important thing that was announced that Sitecore as a platform will has a software releases every six months and updates will be as needed to support sitecore customers:

Once all of these cool introductions ended the sessions started, lets have a quick look.

Commerce and IOT In Powerfull ways!

The sessions started with great session by @LonghornTaco and @rich_seal, they talked about different subjects but mainly they built a cool POC using wristband that uses a radio frequency identification (RFID), IOT Hub, IOT listener in addition to xConnect, they used these thing to build a nice app for tracking user and see if he is in the fast passes or not, in addition they used marketing automation, this is really was a cool session. some of the slides are below:

Uber-Modern APIs for Sitecore

This is also was one of the coolest sessions in this day, provided by @kamsar, Kam give a wonderful introduction and demo for cool things you can do with JSS and GraphQL, some of the sessions slides:

XP Services - Scale Up and Scale Out

On of the most sessions that I enjoyed today is session by @AgileStCyr, in which he talks specifically about scaling XP services like xConnect, Marketing automation and aggregation ...etc. Jason talked about isolation of databases and how this can make things easier such as assigning resources for DB and read/write operations, he explained how more visitors means more interactions and more events which result intomore data collected and there handling growth and scaling become very important.

Jason also mentioned that the xConnect seach indexer is only allow for vertical scaling and horizontal scaling is not currently available but it is in the read map, in addition and as a recommendation from Jason in the areas that you are not very sure with, or you don't have the full requirements make as much as possible of flexibility so you can change things later.

Following are images for the sessions:

Finally, the day ended with Sitecore Hackathon 2018 Award ceremony in addition to the Sitecore MVP 2018 Award ceremony with also a fun community quiz :)
